The two distinct roots to the equation
$$(x-5)(2x+9) = 0$$
are $p$ and $q.$  What is $(p + 3)(q + 3)$?

The roots  are  5 and  -9/2

Can you take it from  there ????

Alternatively you could solve for a polynomial whose roots are \(p+3\) and \(q+3\) and then use Vieta's.
