1/3* (2x − 8) = 4        multiply both sides by 3

2x - 8  = 12                 add 8 to both sides

2x = 20                       divide by 2

x = 10

The 'pictures' on this post are not visible to me.

$$\begin{array}{rlll}
2x-8&=&4\qquad \qquad \mbox{}\\
2x-8+8&=&4+8\qquad \qquad \mbox{add 8 to both sides to get 2x by itself}\\
2x&=&12\qquad \qquad \mbox{}\\
2x/2&=&12/2\qquad \qquad \mbox{divide both sides by 2 to get the x by itself}\\
x&=&6
\end{array}$$
