-2x - 4  >  8                                (Remove  -4  by adding 4 to both sides.)

-2x - 4 + 4  >  8 + 4

-2x  >  12                                    (Now divide by sides by -2, remembering that if you multiply or divide both                                                       sides of an inequaty, you must change the direction of the inequality. You                                                       keep the same direction of the inequality if you multiply or divide by a                                                             positive number and if you add or subtract.)

-2x / -2  <  12 / -2

   x  <  -6
