solve for x: show work

8x+2=5x+2    subtract 2 from both sides

8x = 5x           subtract 5x from both sides

8x - 5x  = 0    simplify

3x = 0            divide by 3 on both sides

x = 0

8x+2=5x+2

subtract 5x from the right and add it to the left

13x+2=2

and now solve it like you would a normal equation.
