(x-2) (x+3) = (x+1) (x-3)  simplifying on both sides, we have

x2 + x - 6  = x2 -2x - 3      subtract x2 from both sides

x - 6 = -2x - 3     add 2x, 6 to both sides

3x = 3                 divide by 3 on both sides

x = 1
