2x-3(x-1)=-1

2x - 3x +3 = -1

-x + 3 = -1

-x = -4

x = 4

 

To check this we can go:

2*4 - 3*(4-1) = -1

8 - 9 = -1

 

At least this is what makes sense for me . . . I could be wrong

2x - 3x + 1  = -1

 

-x + 1  = -1      subtract 1 from both sides

 

-x  = - 2          multuply both sides by -1

 

x = 2
