is it possible to solve for y in this equation: y(tan45)=y(tan60)?

If this means y*tan45 = y*tan60 then no, it's just false (unless y = 0).

However, if y is a function and tan45 and tan60 are arguments then it's possible that the statement is true, depending on the function.

For example, if \(y(x)=(1+\sqrt3-2x)^2\)  then \(y(\tan{45°})=y(1)=(\sqrt3-1)^2\)  and \(y(\tan{60°})=y(\sqrt3)=(1-\sqrt3)^2\)  so y(tan45°) = y(tan60°)
