I assume this is:

(5/3)(y+5)=(1/2)-y   multiply both sides by the common denominator of 2 and 3, i.e., 6....so we have

10(y +5) = 3 - 6y   simplify

10y + 50 = 3 - 6y     add 6y to both sides and subtract 50 from both sides

16y = -47                divide both sides by 16

y = -47/16
