Square the second equation.

(x+y)^2=9

x^2 + 2xy + y^2 = 9

Substitute the first equation to this.

2xy + 9 = 9

2xy = 0

xy = 0

First let x = 0

0+y = 3

y = 3

A solution is (0, 3)

Let y = 0

x + 0 = 3

x = 3

Another solution is (3, 0)

Therefore there are 2 solutions, namely (0, 3) and (3, 0)
