y = x + 6        y  = x^2 + 8x + 16

Set the y's equal and we have that

x^2 + 8x + 16  =  x + 6       rearrange as

x^2 + 7x + 10     =  0          factor

(x + 5) (x + 2)  =  0         set each factor to 0  and solve for x and we get that

x = - 5     and x = -2

And y  =  -5 + 6  = 1     or  y  =  -2 + 6  = 4

So....the solutions are   (-5, 1)   and (-2,  -4)

THX to hectictar for spotting my earlier errors!!!!

Another way through graphing

They intersect at (-5, 1) and (-2, 4)

You are very welcome!
