Sole these equations by doing the same to both sides. They will need more than two steps.

a) 7 (4a+2) = 35

b) 8 - (6m/5) = 2

fisrt one;

times out bracket = 28a + 14 = 35

minus 14 from both sides

28a = 21

a = 21/28

second one;

times by 5;

40 - 6m = 10

+6m to both sides

40=10+6m

-10 from both sides

30=6m

m=30/6

m=5

ta dah!

First one:                                                                                    Second one:   8-(6m/5)=2     subtract 8 from both sides

7(4a+2) = 35    Divide both sides by 7                                                                 -6m/5= -6       multiply both sides by -5/6

4a+2=5             Subtract 2 from both sides                                                             m= -6(-5/6)=5

4a=3                  divide both sides by 4

a=3/4

First one:

7(4a+2) = 35    Divide both sides by 7

4a+2=5             Subtract 2 from both sides

4a=3                  divide both sides by 4

a=3/4

Second one:   8-(6m/5)=2     subtract 8 from both sides

-6m/5 = -6                              multiply both sides by -5/6

m=-6(-5/6) = 5

Sorry, the format of my first answer got garbled!!
