1. Ryan bought a book for $25. If Ryan paid 5% sales tax on the book, how much tax did he pay?

2. Tonya borrowed $1500 for one year. If the interest rate was 8.5%, find the total amount Tonya paid back.

Set up the proportion for me please.

We don't really  need any proportions here

1.

Cost of book  +  5% * cost of book  = final price

25  +  .05 (25)  =   $26.25

2.

Amt borrowed  +  8.5% * Amt borrowed  = Amt Paid Back

1500 +  .085 (1500)   = $1627.50
