solving systems of equations by elimination

-6x+5y = 1

6x+4y = -10

Just add these and we get

9y = -9   divide both sides by   9

y  = -1

Sub this into either equation to find x

6x + 4(-1) = - 10

6x - 4 = -10      add 4 to both sides

6x = - 6     divide both sides by 6

x = - 1
