A shopkeeper buys 80 articles for Rs 2,400 and sells then for a profit of 16%. Find the selling price if one article ?
i can't understand this question properly !
Because the original cost of a single article is Rs 30.
The question asks for the selling price of a single article.
You could have taken 16% of Rs 2400, added this to Rs 2400 to find the selling price of all 80 articles, but you would then have to divide the result by 80 to find the selling price of a single article.
Hopefully, you would get the same result!
Incidentally, I didn't divide 16% by 100; I divided 16 by 100. 16% means 16 divided by 100.
The original price of one article is Rs 2400/80 = Rs 30.
16% of Rs 30 is Rs (16/100)*30 = Rs 4.8
So the shopkeeper must have sold each article for the price originally paid plus the profit on each one, namely
Rs 30 + Rs 4.8 = Rs 34.8
Alan why did u divide 16% by 100 and multiply by 30?if it says that the profit is 16% so why r we taking out 16% of 30?
