*sorry about the picture*

The smaller triangle is the image of the larger triangel after a dilation. The center of dilation is (-3,-2). What is the scale factor used to create the dilation?

it wont let me give a pic. but the coordiantes for the small triangle are (-5,-2), (-3.-2), and (-3,-4). The coordinates for the bigger one are (-3.-2), (-3,6), and (5,-2)

We can determine this as follows

New Point  =  (Old corresponding point  - Dilation Center) * Scale Factor + Dilation Center

(5, -2)  = [ ( -5, -2) - (-3, -2) ] *Scale Factor +  (-3, -2)

( 5, - 2)  - ( -3, - 2)   = [ (-2, 0) ] *Scale Factor

( 8 , 0 )  =  ( - 2, 0) * Scale Factor

(8, 0)  =  (-2, 0) * ( -4)

So....the scale factor is  -4
