Samantha’s parents are going to paint her room.  Her color choices for the walls include three different shades of white, four shades of tan, two shades of blue, three shades of green, and four shades of pink.  What is the probability that she will randomly select any shade of blue or pink?  Homework Help ✎

Okay so for these kind of probabilty problems you need to find out how many options are there in total.

So there are three of white, four of tan, two of blue, three of green, and four of pink.

Your total amount of options is 14.

Now you want BLUE or PINK.

Out of all of the options only six are the colors you want, so that's six out of fourteen or 6/14.

Now you just have to simplify and voilá!

Samantha has a 3/7 chance to get any shades of pink or blue.

Hope this was helpful. c:

The probability for blue is 2/16...aka...1/8

and

The probability for pink is 4/16...aka...1/4
