Let the gross amount be =G
G x [1 - (25% + 5%) ] =$2,100
G x [1 - .30 ] = $2,100
G x .70 = $2,100 divide both sides by 0.70
G = $2,100 / 0.70
G = $3,000 gross amount before Federal and State taxes.
