+1667 Well, I assume you are not painting the ground or ceiling, just the walls.
Lateral surface area is the area of the curved part of a curved shape (ex. cylinder, cone, etc.).
Total surface area includes the flat bases as well.
Assuming you are only painting the walls, you would be calculating lateral surface area.
