The diagonal of the square will be the diameter of the circle  8"

the triangle formed will be a right triangle with equal length sides

a^2 + b^2 = 8^2

2a^2 = 8^2

a^2 = 32

a = side length = sqrt32=5.65 inches

The diameter represents the diagonal of the square

The length of one side  =   8  / √2  = [ √2 ]5  ≈ 5.657 in....as EP found......

cool cool cool
