Is it possible to find the square root a negative number?

Yes....but it's not a "real" number

The square root of  -1 is defined as " i "......where i  is an "imaginary" number

So, for example

√(-4) =

√(-1 * 4)  =

√(-1) *  √4  =

i * 2     which is usually written as
