John has 5 quarters and David has 5 dimes. John owes David 35 cents. John should give David m quarters and John should get n dimes from David so that John has paid his debt exactly. What is the value of m + n?

Wouldn't 3 and 4 work?

John should give David 3 quarters =0.75 cents and should get 4 dimes =0.75 - 0.40 =0.35 cents that David owes John. So: m + n = 3 + 4 =7
