Put (1) into (2) and we have
x - 5 ( -2x + 4) = 7 simplify
x + 10x - 20 = 7
11x - 20 = 7 add 20 to both sides
11x = 27 divide both sides by 11
x = 27/11
And y = -2x + 4 = -2(27/11) + 4 = -54/11 + 44/11 = -10/11
