If you mean the sum of the squares of natural numbers such as:

1^2+2^2+3^2+4^2+5^2.........=1/6 n( n + 1 )( 2 n + 1 ).

In statistics the sum of the squares means

find the mean,      \(\bar{x}\)

find the distance of each data point from the mean and square the answers .

 \( (x-\bar{x})^2 \qquad    or   \qquad (\bar{x}-x)^2 \qquad \text{they are the same}\\ \text{Now add them all together}\\ \sum (x-\bar{x})^2\)
