sunny is now 32 yrs old and his don is 7 years old . in how many yrs will sunny be twice as old as his son ?
Hi Rosala,
Sunny is now and always will be 32-7=25 years older than his son.
---------------------------------------------
so if the son's age is X (in any given year)
is Sunny's age is X+25
Sunny will be twice as old as his son when
2X=X+25
2X-X=25
X=25
25-7=18 This will happen in 18 years time.
------------------------------------------------
You could do this more simple.
The difference in age is 25years so when the son is 25 the father must be 50. (that is twice as much)
The boy is 7 now. 25-7=18
So this will happen in 18 years time!
i dont know why im getting a bit confused ! if the sons age is x then why did u do it like this 2x=x+25
just tell mee about 2x ?
by the way thanks melody to answer ! its a very good answer but i have a lil doubt ! thanks and thumbs up from me for the very nice answer !
Okay Rosala,
I really like you to ask questions like this.
The son's age is X That is correct.
The father's age is X+25
We need to know how old Sunny is when his father is EXACTLY DOUBLE sunny's age.
Exactly double sonny's age is 2X
So we need to know when
2X=X+25 (Twice son's age = father's age)
Think about it and then tell me if it helps.
Hi Rosala,
It is good that you are still telling me you don't understand!
Why don't you forget about the algebra bit. Maybe you are not ready for that yet. Look at the last bit that i wrote. Try to make sense of that.
