The ration of the measure of two supplement angles is 7 to 8. Find the measure of each angle.

Supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees. Let x be the number of units so we have 7x and 8x. Then

 

7x+8x=180

15x=180

x=12

 

So the two angles are 7(12)=84 and 8(12)=96.

gs85 has the correct answer....here is another way to solve it

 

Angle 1  is    7/(7+8) = 7/15 of the total    the other angle is 8/15

  supplementary angles add to 180o :       7/15 * 180 = 84o         8/15 x 180 = 96o
