I'm not sure if this is what you mean....but I think you have....
x / y = 4 / 7 and y / z = 14 / 3
Note that the first fraction can also be expressed as x / y = 8 / 14
So
[x + y ] / z = [8 + 14 ] / 3 = 22 / 3
