A right cone has an altitude of 4 units and a base diameter of 6 units. What is its lateral area?

The lateral area  is given by :   pi * R * L      where R is the cone's radius  and L is the slant height

The slant height ,L,  is given by   √[ cone height^2 +  radius^2]  =  √[4^3 + 3^2]= √25  = 5

So....the lateral area  =

pi * 3 * 5   =

15 pi units^2
