tan(36) = x/42

at first, you have to find tan 36 degrees. For the best use calculator.

tan(36) = 0.726542528005
so
0.726542528005 = x / 42

now you need to get x on one side and numbers you know on the other side. The number you are removeing on other side have to change mark on its oposite. There it is / to *. It's like with + and -. ( 10 = x + 4 .... 10 - 4 = x)

0.726542528005 * 42 = x
30.51478617621 = x
