 A toy company uses the linear model y = -3x + 571 to predict the decline in sales of a toy after it has been on the market more than one year. If x is the number of months after the first year and y is the number of toys sold in
hundreds during that month, how many toys will be sold 13 months after the first year?

A) 61,000 toys B) -18,600 toys C) -170,000 toys D) 53,200 toys E) None of
These

this is a graphing formula, but drawing a graph is not necessary

according to what you put, x would equal 13

so, all you do is solve for y

y = m x + b

y = -3 (13) + 571

y = -39 + 571

y = 571 - 39

y = 532

and y was toys sold in hundreds, so multiply y times 100, or move the decimal point 2 places to the left, resulting in 53,200
