We can find x as follows :

Area =  (1/2) * x^2 * sin(27°)

8  =  (1/2) * x^2 * sin(27°)       multiply both sides by 2

16  = x^2 * sin (27°)    divide both sides by sin (27°)

[ 16 / sin (27°) ]  = x^2         take the square root of both sides

sqrt [ 16 / sin (27°) ]   = x  ≈  5.937  cm^2
