The diagram shows a sector of a circle, centre

O, radius 10 cm.

The arc length of the sector is 15 cm.

Calculate the area of the sector.

Don't see any image......but we need to find the central angle, theta, of the sector....so we have :

Arc length =  radius * ( theta in radians)

15 = 10 * ( theta in radians )    divide both sides by 10

15 / 10  =  3 / 2   =  1. 5 rads

So.....the area of the sector  =

(1/2) * radius^2  * theta in rads   =

(1/2) * 10^2 * 1.5   =   75 cm^2
