The Earth's average distance to the Sun is 1.5 × 10 ^ 8 km. In one year the Earth moves around the Sun in a circular path. Calculate the earths speed, expressed in kilometers per hour. Round to the tenthousand

The Earth's orbit round the Sun is NOT a pefect circle BUT an ellipse.

However, we have:

1.5 X 10^8Km-the orbit's radius.

(1.5 X 10^8) X 2=3 X 10^8 Km-the orbit's diameter, but Circumference=Diameter X Pi, so

3 X 10^8 X 3.141592=942,477,600 Km. But, since it takes Earth 365.25 X 24=8,766 hours to make one full orbit, therefore:942,477,600/8,766=107,515.1266 Km/hour=29.8653 Km/second
