the height of a room is 10 feet. you are building a shelving unit from floor to ceiling.

a: each shelf requires 8 inches. write and solve an inequality that represents the number of shelves that can be made.

10 ft = 120 inches  .....

 

N * 8  <= 120       where N is the number of shelves.......divide both sides by

 

N <= 15

 

However.....this assumes that the first shelf is at floor level and the last shelf will have an 8 inch clearance with the ceiling......
