The inhabitants of the island of Jumble use the standard Roman alphabet (26 letters, A through Z). Each word in their language is 3 letters, and for some reason, they insist that all words contain the letter A or B at least once. How many 3-letter words are possible?

I will assume that the 26 letters can be repeated:

26^3 =17,576 possible number of 3-letter words

24^3 =13,824 - all 3-letter words that have no "A's" or "B's" in them

17,576 - 13,824 =3,752 - Three-letter "words" that have at least one "A" or one "B" in them.
