the quadratic equation -10x^2+11x=-8 represents the track followed by a missile. calculate the two values of x when the missile is in the same horizontal plane.

Starting with  -10x² + 11x  =  -8,  we can get  -10x² + 11x + 8  =  0  that can be represented by the function:

y  =  -10x² + 11x + 8.  This give a graph of a parabola which has an infinite number of pairs of x-values that

have the same y-value (on the same horizontal line) from ground level to its maximum.

I'm not understanding what you mean by the "same horizontal plane".

The missile will be in the same horizontal plane at many pairs of x values.....however, if you mean at what x values will the height = 0  , look at the graph here......https://www.desmos.com/calculator/yywqknblth

And the ht. = 0   when x = -0.5 and when x = 1.6
