The smaller triangle is the image of the larger triangle after a dilation. The center of the dilation is (4,2).                                    What is the scale factor used to create the dilation?

We can find the scale factor as follows :

(8,2)  =   [  ( -8, 2) -  (4,2) ] * Scale Factor +  (4,2)

(8,2)  =   [ -12, 0] *Scale Factor  + (4, 2)

(8, 2) - (4, 2)   =  [ -12, 0 ] * Scale Factor

(4, 0) =  [ -12, 0 ] * Scale Factor

Scale Factor  =   (4/ -12)  =   -1/3
