The sum of two consecutive integers is 153. What are the two integers?

Let N be the first integer and N + 1the second...and we have

N + (N + 1)    = 153 simplify

2N + 1  = 153     subtract 1 from both sides

2N  = 152    divide both sides by 2

N  = 76

And N + 1  = 77
