The top and bottom of the container shown here are the same size, both consisting of a rectangle, 4 cm by 9 cm, with a semi-circle at each end. The depth is 3cm. Find the volume of the container

okay I will assume that it is a right prism

You have to find the area of the end.

so find the area of the recangle  A=length x breadth

now find the area of the semicircle  A = half of $$\pi r^2$$     

The radius of the semicicle is going to be half of 4 or a half of 9 depending on your diagram.

Add those 2 areas together.

 

Now the volume is area of base times depth.

The area of the base is what you just worked out and the depth is 3cm

 

Your answer will be in $$cm^3$$
