The width of a rectangle is 9 cm less than twice the length. The perimeter is 72 cm. what is the length and width of the rectangle?

Perimeter=2[ L + W ]

 

Length=L

Width =2L - 9

72 = 2[ L + 2L - 9 ]

72=2L + 4L - 18

6L =72 + 18

6L= 90 divide both sides by 6

L =15 cm - the Length of the rectangle

W=[2 x 15] - 9

W = 21 cm - the Width of the recrangle.
