Hi Rictor5,

Welcome to the forum, it is very nice to meet you. :)

 

 

There are 4 boys and 3 girls in a lunch line. In how many different ways can they line up if the 3 girls want to stay as a group.

 

There are 3! ways to order the girls = that is 6 ways.

Now tie a rope around the girls = now you have 4 boys and one very weird looking female.  That is 5 altogether.

There are 5! ways to order these 5 entitiies in a line

so

altogether there will be 

3!*5! ways

 

3!*5! = 720 ways
