There is a tree that has 62 apples growing on it. Every 2 hours and 50 minutes, a single apple falls off of the tree. If the apples only fell off one at a time, how long would it take for the tree to lose all of its apples?

If you start timing from the instant the first apple falls off then the time is 170*61mins because there are only another 61 left to fall!

$${\mathtt{t}} = {\mathtt{170}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{61}} \Rightarrow {\mathtt{t}} = {\mathtt{10\,370}}$$ minutes

t ≈ 7.2 days

2 hrs + 50 min = 170 min

170 x 62 = 10540 min / 60 min = about 176.66 hrs. = about 7.3 days
