There is an error in solving the following system. Explain the error and how you would correct it.

y=3x-4

3x-2y=13

3x-2(3x-4)=13                                                y=3(-7)-4

3x-6x-8=13                                                    y=-21-4

-3x-8=13                                                        y=-25

-3x=21

x=-7

Solution: x = -7             y = -25

The error occurs in these two steps......

3x-2(3x-4)=13

3x-6x-8=13

When the "-2" is distributed across the "-4" inside the parentheses, the result should be a positive 8, rather than a negative 8.
