Hello!

I found this question that i didn't know the answer to it..The answer book said that the answer is 13cm but without proof..If anyone could tell me the proof that would be great :).

 

ABCD is an isoscles trapezium in which AD // BC, if BC=2AD=20cm and its area is 180, find the length of each of its legs. 

 

BC=20cm

AD=10cm..

You want to draw a diagram first...see Omi67's diagram.

 

Next...use the area of the trapezoid formula to find the height, which is 1/2(30h)=180, h=12.

 

Extend both sides to create a 5-12-13  triangle, and the length of each of the legs is 13 centimeters.
