Triangle ABC is equilateral and AB=4x-y, BC=2x+3y, and AC=7. Find x & y.
It's an EQUALateral triangle , so by definition all of the sides are the same length...
So:
4x-y=7 solve for y= 4x-7
2x+3y=7 Substitute y= 4x-7 in here
2x + 3(4x-7)= 7
14x = 28 x= 2 so y = 1
