area of a triangle with base of 9.6 and a hypotenuse of 12

Let x be the unknow side, then we have:

x^2 + 9.6^2=12^2

x^2 +92.16=144

x^2=144 - 92.16=51.84

x=51.84^1/2=7.2 Being the Opposite side(which is the height of the triangle)

Area=(Base X Height)/2

Area=(7.2 X 9.6) / 2

Area=34.56 square units.
