I have been trying to help my daughter all day long with this but with no luck - we both end up solving it the same way, with an incorrect answer. I would appreciate if someone could help us. Thank you! The assignment is:
x2/3 - 5x1/3 + 6 = 0
Hallo guest
x^2/3 - 5x^1/3 + 6 = 0 this will factor as
(x^1/3 - 2) (x^1/3 - 3) = 0 set each factor to 0 and we have
x^1/3 - 2 = 0 and x^1/3 - 3 = 0
add 2 to each side add 3 to each side
x^1/3 = 2 x^1/3 = 3
cube each side
x = 2^3 = 8 x = 3^3 = 27
And those are the two solutions
Smart! We get it now! Thank you CPhill, appreciate your kind help very much!
