A boy flying a kite lets out 300 feet of string which makes an angle of 38 degrees with the ground. Assuming that the string is straight, how high above the ground is the kite?

This describes a right triangle with the string (300 ft) as the hypotenuse...

S-O-H-C-A-H-T-O-A

SIN= OPPOSITE/HYPOTENUSE

Sin (38) = opposite/300     opposite is the height

300 sin (38) = height = 184.7 ft
