Given sin(−θ)=−1/6 and tanθ=−35√/35.

What is the value of cosθ?

sin (-theta) = -sin theta     so sin (theta) = 1/6

sin^2 + cos^2 = 1

sqrt(1-  ( 1/6)2 ) = cos    = +-  sqrt (35/36)

but tan is negative and sin is positive    so cos is neagative :

       -   sqrt  (35/36) = sqrt35 / 6   = cos
