finding the length of a triangle, my degree is 48, opposite is 9cm and the hyp is x. How would i solve it?

Here are some starters....it is a right triangle so one angle is 90   one is 48 (given) and the other is  180-90-48= 42

Sin 48 = 9/x  (opposite over hypot)

 

Can you take it from there?     (Once you calc hyp, you should be able to calc the other leg...a couple of ways)

sin 48 = 9/x

x = 9/sin 48 = 12.11 = hypot

 

Pythagor theor   to find the othe leg       9^2 + x^2 = 12.11^2       x = 8.1 cm = other leg
