how do you solve for a variable on a triangle side using sin,cos, and tan??

for sine A.K.A. sin. you do the opposite divided by the hypotenuse of the triangle. For the cosine (cos) you do the adjacent side divided by the hypotenuse. And finally for the tangent(tan) you do the opposite side divided by the adjacent side. So you subbstitute the variable for whichever side it is. Ex. If the angle is unknown, and the triangle's opposite side is 5 and the adjacent side is 8. Then you would do 5 over 8=tanx . The next step would be to put in the calculator 5 divided by 8. take that decimal or whole number and substitue that for x using tan-1(x) X=0.625 So you would put in tan-1(0.625) in the calc. And do that for cosine, and sine also.
